Finally

Well a few books to catch up on. I read Demon Hunts by C.E. Murphy. So far that book is my favorite out of the Urban Shaman series. Joanne has really changed. Finally we get to how much. I was getting tired of her denial and lack of interest in her powers. The 5th book is where we really see that she is going to be a force to be reckoned with. I am tired of her feelings for the Captain going nowhere. When is their relationship going to take off? Do we have to read 10 more books before they get together? Their denial for their feelings is killing me. I want so badly for them to be together.

The Fever Series

I am now all caught up with the Fever series. It just got better and better. I enjoy how Mac has grown up. She is not the innocent little girl anymore, she is a powerful woman. I can't believe I have to wait until January to finish the series. How could it just end like that? The beast changing after she helped kill it. Changing into a person? I have a feeling it is Jericho. I'm just trying to see who else could it be that she is screaming like that. I have a huge crush on Jericho btw. He sounds sexy as hell.

I'm Back

Well it has been a awhile since I last posted anything. I guess I got lost because of all the boring books I have been reading. I have read a few books since the last two. Thorn Queen by Richelle Mead, which was pleasant. I really enjoy reading about Eugenie, she is a good character. She is tough and sweet. I like her internal battle between human and fae. She doesn't want to be her father yet that is exactly what she will become if she doesn't stop denying who she really is. I like being along for the ride while she slowly but surely discovers her powers.

I decided to give two new series a chance. New to me that is. I read The Scent of Shadows by Vicki Pettersson and Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning. The Scent of Shadows was really good and had a new twist on the urban fantasy kick. It was slow at first to me, with getting introduced to Joanna and her family. This book was different adding a superhero comic twist. It was interesting to have a protagonist who knew she was destined to be a real live superhero. I am currently trying to rent the second book in the series from the library but can't seem to find it. I want to know more about Joanna's new future. Especially now that she has to live it as her sister. Such a sad fate, I feel sorry for her.

Darkfever was good to me as well. Also a bit slow in the beginning. It was hard to have to read from such an innocent naive point of view. During the book Mac acted like such a baby sometimes I wanted to scream at her. I know it sounds like I didn't like the book. I did though. I want to know more about Jericho.

I just finished Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead. I am getting so tired of Rose. She acts like such a spoiled bitch. She saves Dimitri's life expects him to be exactly the same man before he became Strigoi. She drags poor Adrian around like her love sick puppy. I just want to punch her in the face. Now she is on trial for murder? I just don't know where Richelle is trying to take this series.

I also read Burned House of Night by P.C. and Kristin Cast. I love this series, but again I'm just not sure where they are taking it. I had to spend this whole book wondering what is going through Stevie Rae and Zoey's mind. I have to admit I like the dark and light aspect in Stevie Rae. She is falling in love with the Ravenmocker which I actually don't mind. Why is he going to turn into a boy if he follows the path of the light? Stark was my favorite boy in her life since he came in her life. He is still my fave. I love his loyalty. I am waiting for the big fight between Zoey and Neferet. I feel like they don't want to take it there yet because it will officially end the series, but these stupid mini plots in between the battle are killing me. Get with it already!

Walking Dead and Beneath the Skin

Beneath the Skin by Adrian Phoenix was due today at the Library. I had to rush to finish it today. Why? Well I will tell you why. It was BORING! This book is the third book of the Makers Song series. The first two books are really good, they hold my interest throughout. This one...so bad. The whole book is basically two days of events with about five different POVs. I don't care about half the characters that get their own POV, to have this for the whole book was annoying. I had to push myself to get through it. I really like the story line, Dante's past and lineage. Heather and Von are great characters. I felt that this book didn't really go anywhere. Yes Heather and Dante became bond mates but that didn't happen until about 350 pages into it. I'm so happy that Dante finally saved Lucien. That was another part of the story I thought would never end. I hope the next one is better. I want more character development, more meat in the story. Last week I finished up Walking Dead by C.E. Murphy. Joanne is a good person but why is she so dumb? I don't get it. Four books into her series and she still is a bad Shaman. Every single book in this series Joanne spends in her garden. When is she going to get over herself, grow some balls and really start saving people? I want her and Morrison together so badly, why is this taking so long. There is not enough time spent on their developing their chemistry. They love each other but hardly interact in the books at all. I am definitely going to check Demon Hunts, but I'm doing so cautiously. I really hope for more, more saving, more Morrison. Less of Joanne floating in and out of realms and still not knowing what she is doing.

Blood Promises

Hmmm, I just finished Blood Promises by Richelle Mead. That is the fourth part to Vampire Academy. Truth be told it DRAGGED. I was with Rose and her quest. I understood, she made a promise to Dimitri and she would not be able to rest until she fulfilled her promise. Well her time with the Belikov's and her time as a blood whore just bored me. There were times during the book that I would tear up because I couldn't imagine what she was going through. Dimitri in her eyes was dead. I don't think I could ever handle that. When she met the shadow kissed couple and received the ring, I just knew that ring was going to have an effect on Dimitri. For some reason I expected him to be cured in this novel. I also knew even though Dimitri was Strigoi, he still loved Rose. The way she expected him to be completely evil and he wasn't broke my heart. Her conflict, should she kill him or is there hope? In the end I knew as she did there was no hope, He had to die. I'm happy that Richelle didn't completely kill off Dimitri though. I'm not sure if I can handle Rose with Adrian. I love her relationship with Dimitri. I hope in Spirit Bound, the next book, she finds a cure for him. That might be hoping for too much of a happy ending, but I can't help but want to see Rose happy. She has been through so much. She lost her first love, might go crazy because she is bound to Lissa, and is not fully sure of her place in the world.

Holy Crap Shadow Kiss

Wow is what I have to say after reading Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead. This is the third part to her Vampire Academy series. This story follows Rose, Lissa, Dimitri and Christian through their "adventures". I'm not sure if that is what I should be calling them though. Rose starts to learn what it really means to be Shadow Kissed. She finds out that she will eventually become crazy from Lissa's use of powers. She also finds out because she had died once she has a connection to the after life. A connection that gets stronger as she kills. She can now sense Strigoi and see ghosts. Strigoi attack the school while Mason warns her from the dead. During the attack the Strigoi kidnap a few of the people off campus. Of course a rescue mission ensues, where Dimitri is attacked. Rose finds out that Dimitri became a Strigoi. Well of course I was crying like a baby. Screaming to the heavens "WHY Dear God WHY!" I'm upset, come on who wouldn't be? I feel so bad for Rose. Her love is pretty much dead. The book ends with Rose running away because she believes she has to kill Dimitri. In the first book he claims that is what he would want. Yes I shed tears during this part as well. C'mon knowing the love of your life is changed for the worse, now she is on a mission to kill him. This book definitely did not end on a happy note, for that I am glad. Don't get me wrong I love books that end happily, but just having such a depressing ending actually left me with a good feeling. I want it to resolve happily. I don't want her to kill Dimitri, but with Richelle I now know that I will be surprised. I like surprises. I already have a copy of Blood Promises from the library. If you have read any of these posts you have to notice what a nerd I am. I will start this novel right away. AHHH I'm so excited!

The Reckoning

Well ladies and gents I completed The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong this morning. Guess What?? I loved it of course. I know what some of you who have read it already are going to say. Kelley didn't complete some story lines, yada yada. Who cares? Those who know Kelley's writing should know that she always likes to bring in new characters. There is going to be a new series that are going to delve more into the Edison Group Experiments. The Reckoning is the third and last book of the Darkest Powers Trilogy. Chloe Saunders is the main protagonist in these novels. Maybe I loved it because Chloe finally uses her powers to save herself and her friends. Maybe I love it because she finally chooses the right brother Derek. Maybe I love it because Derek finally completes his change. Maybe I love it because Tori finally is one of them. I really hope Kelley decides to bring Chloe and Derek back. It doesn't have to be soon, it could be later after her eighth YA book or even bring them back in her Adult world. I trust Ms. Armstrong's judgment so far the only character I don't really like is Hope and Cassandra. I'm super excited about Waking the Witch. I have been waiting for Savannah to have her own novel. Now that she finally has I cannot wait to tackle it.
